I Love Books. There is Nothing I enjoy more than a good book that draws me in and allows me to step into the central character’s shoes. I am not ashamed to say that I have been a wizard, a business woman, a vampire and a detective in the span of last 60 days or so. That my dear is the magic of books. Therefore, with my first book “Ummu Loves to Walk” I want the little ones to step into Ummu’s shoes and experience the power of imagination. Use these tips and activity ideas to get the most out of my book “Ummu Loves To Walk”:
- Replace the name Ummu with your child’s name for instant personalization (this only works if you have a son. Sorry for that! Maybe next time Ummu should have his sister with him!)
- Ask your child if he/she can find Ummu’s silent friend who is always with him.
- Challenge your child to do everything that Ummu does in a span of 2 weeks. This means one day you will walk on pavement, another day by a stream, yet another day you will look for fireflies…. so on and so forth.
- If your toddler is already chatty then encourage him or her to take a favourite soft toy on these walks and explain to it everything she notices. This is a good exercise for Present Moment Awareness. or Mindfulness.
I hope you will read my book and try these activities. If you do, let me know how it went! Also, for more ideas about encouraging Mindfulness or Present Moment Awareness in your young child read my post 5 Mindfulness Exercises (Games) for Toddlers.
